Show Zion Park Travel Sets All-time High Travel in Zion National Park has reached proportions never before experienced, according ac-cording to Superintendent Karl T. Gilbert. During the week end of Aug. 17 and 18, 15,732 people visited the park. This is the largest visitation for a two-day period ever recorded re-corded in the Park. Superintendent Gilbert reported re-ported that the Park is well on its way to a new travel record rec-ord with travel for the month now 185V. above that for the same month last year, and nearly 12 above that for the total year. It is now estimated that the travel for 1968 will approximate 850,000, some 35,-000 35,-000 above that for 1966, the greatest previous travel year when 815,179 people visited the area. On July 17, Zion Campground Camp-ground use was 2,011 campers; camp-ers; on July 18, 2,032 campers. camp-ers. Total campground use is now up 59o over that for last year, the greatest camper year in history. Visitation in the Zion Visitor Visit-or Center was 4.213 for the two-day period.
