"Communism Is attempting to destroy the capitalist God and if they are successful they will have accomplished their first major task in a take over of this country," she advoated. The threat is real, Miss Holmes believes, and she was outspoken in her appeal for Americans to wake up and do something. "The communist influence is extensive and Is growing. It touches the church, the intellectuals, on down to the community level and the housewife," she said. When asked what can be-done be-done about the threat, Miss Holmes suggested the election of a conservative government body and suggested that the American people must act now to nominate such leaders and not wait until election day in 1968. As to an effective organization organiza-tion against the Communist threat, Miss Holmes stated that the John Birch Society Is a major organization that is working with the masses in an attempt to awaken the American public. Other groups, she said, are effective, but are working with more specific speci-fic groups. When asked if Earl Warren is a communist, Miss Holmes rpfiispH tn sn staff, hut riiH in. "Join an anti-communist organization. If there is no such organization here, form one." Those were tne words of Mi.ss Lola Belle Holmes, former form-er undercover agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Investiga-tion, as she talked to student stu-dent groups in the Cedar City area Tuesday. Miss Holmes, now on a two and one-half month speaking tour of the western and central cen-tral United States, advocated that the citizens of the United States must be awakened to the threat of communism in this country. She speaks from a background as a member of the communist commun-ist party as an undercover agent for the FBI. Her identity iden-tity was revealed in 1963 when she was brought forth to testify tes-tify against the leader of the communist party in Illinois, who is now the president of the communist party in the United States. "Wherever there is rioting, almost without exception there is communist influence," she stated. The communists, she believes are behind the violence in civil rights movements, move-ments, are infiltrating labor organizations, are working strongly with student groups and youth organizations, as well as the church. Miss Holmes cited an In- dicate that Earl Warren and the Justice Department stoc as a stumbling block in ei-forts ei-forts in this country to handle the problem. While a member of the party par-ty she indicated that a major blow to the Communist party was a ruling to require members to register. That set back, she said, was turned to a major victory for the party when the Justice Department reversed that decision. Other reversals within the department depart-ment has losened the controls con-trols over communists in this country, she said. !
