Show Ashdown Gorge Dam Feasibility Study Gets Cooperative Pledge of Financial Support Pledges for financial support sup-port for a feasibility study for a proposed dam at Ashdown Gorge in the mouth of the Cedar Breaks area, were received re-ceived this week in a series of meetings in Iron County. Soil Conservation Service, which is holding an application applica-tion for water conservation and flood control in the area, has asked participating organizations organ-izations to make a determination determina-tion in order that priorities might be maintained in the controls program. Agencies Cooperate Iron County, Cedar City Corporation, Cor-poration, and six of the eight irrigation companies sharing waters from Coal Creek have pledged support based on water utilization for the study. The feasibility study calls for apprpximately $28,000 for core drillings, water studies and other necessary information informa-tion before a water storage project can be undertaken. Two sites have been designate!! desig-nate!! in the Gorge and it is indicated by SCS officials that the lower site offers the best economic location up to 10,000 acre feet of storage with the upper site best suited for above 10,000 acre feet. Average annual flow of Ashdown Ash-down Creek over a four year period is between 10,000 and 11,000 acre feet. That would include, it was pointed out, that Rattlesnake Creek would be contoured into the storage area. , si w . a wlmteMi 'ill I ff-'y; vl 1 1 I PERMANENT COLLECTION. In a meeting Tuesday in Cedar Ce-dar City was also felt that the sponsoring agent for the proposed pro-posed study project should be the Iron County Water Users Association. |
