Show St. George Telephone Now Dialing j Via Cedar Station Kent Alder, manager of the Pedar City office of the Mountain Moun-tain States Telephone Co. announced an-nounced today that a $170,000 improvement program has just been completed in the Cedar City and St. George exchange offices. The improvement makes it possible pos-sible for St. Georse to be cut in on the direct dialing system effective ef-fective Sunday, Aug. 7, Alder indicated. in-dicated. The St. George exchange will operate their direct dialing program pro-gram through the Cedar City office under a program of "Operator "Oper-ator Number Identification", he explained. Residents of St. George will dial their out of city or out of state number using I the proper area code along with I the numeral 1, but will have one interruption when an operator oper-ator in the Cedar City exchange will ask simply for the calling number. To facilitate this move into the direct dialing field, microwave units have also been installed between the two Southern Utah communities. Alder explained that the improvement im-provement is the fi.rst phase of their program with Beaver, Par-owan, Par-owan, and Milford schedule to be cut into the direct dialing program through the Cedar City office sometime this fall. |
