Show Cedar High School Band Granted Permission for San Diego Excursion The Cedar City High School marching band was given authorization auth-orization to travel to San Diego, Calif., in the fall of 1964 to participate par-ticipate in a halftimc activity of the San Diego Chargers Professional Profes-sional Football game scheduled for national television. Harold Boyce, director, met with the board requesting the authorization following an invitation invi-tation from the San Diego Charger Char-ger Professional Football organl-ration. organl-ration. Date for the appearance will be arranged. Boyce also reported that the band, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and other groups, will sponsor a series of fund raising activities to raise funds to defray costs of the trip and to assist in obtaining new uniforms. The board also met with Mayor May-or Kumen S. Gardner and members mem-bers of the city council to make an inspection of property near the new Cedar City Hifch School to discuss the development and possible property acquisition for proper access to the central parking park-ing area at the Cedar High , School. The Board, according to Superintendent lanthus Wright, will attempt to have the accesses ready for the opening of school next fall. The Board authorized a call for bids for supplying boiler insurance in-surance for the district. A call for bids may be found elsewhere in this issue of the Record. Representatives will be in attendance, at-tendance, it was reported, at an educational television meeting to be held Friday, May 15, in Beaver. To be discussed will be plans for running powerlines, roads and other details in connection con-nection with the distribution of the educational TV signal out of Salt Lake City. Federal funds have been acquired for the purchase pur-chase of necessary equipment. Installation and maintenance, however, will be at the expense of the various districts involved, It was stated. Dates for the State School Board Association convention to be held at Bryce Canyon National Nation-al Park were announced for June 19 and 20. District administrators administra-tors and members of the board will be in attendance, it was , stated.
