Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING By Kola Kupfec . Entertaining , on Friday Mrs. ( George M. Hunter chose the lovely new home of her daughter daugh-ter Mrs. Gary Adams as the scene for an afternoon of canasta and visiting. Invited were the members of the M.B.W. Club. A delicious luncheon was served by Mrs. Hunter after which the ladles lad-les enjoyed canasta for a portion por-tion of the afternoon. Winning high score prizes were Mrs. Mel knee and Mrs. John Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Decker were host and hostess to mem-ors mem-ors of their Dinner Bridge Club last Saturday. Enjoying a Mexican Mexi-can Dinner were Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Clove, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene T. Woolf, Mr. and Mrs. York Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Croft. Last week Mr. and Mrs. Varley Dutton welcomed their daughter Mrs. Odell Thompson (Trlnna) nd son Kelly as they arrived for a week's visit from their home I n Crucero. Calif. Following a 1 week filled with family activities activi-ties Mrs. Thompson and son re- turned to their home on Monday. The first meeting of a newly organized bridge club was held on Thuray at the" home of Mrs. Ga.y Jones. Interested in learning learn-ing the fundamentals of bridge and Joining together to enjoy the Tame were Mrs. Jones, Evelyn Williams, Pearlle Mitchell, Violet Vio-let Berrett, Yvone Leigh, Betty Walker, Doris Sears and Carol Brown. High score for the evening eve-ning was made by Pearlie Williams. Wil-liams. A theme of baby pink was carried car-ried out as Mrs. Jack Crosby entertained en-tertained at a baby shower in honor of Mis. Robert Stratton. Sharing the spotlight with her mother for the afternoon was tiny Jan Stratton. Bearing gifts for the newest members of the Stratton family were Mrs. Emma Warren, Mrs. LaVell Chamberlain, Chamber-lain, Mrs. Homer Christensen, Mrs. Hap Halden, Mrs. Dick Win-terrose, Win-terrose, Mrs. Rex Hulet, Mrs. Hal Norton. Mrs. Therol McArthur, Mrs. Keith Midgley, Mrs. Dan Baldwin, Mrs. Byron Anderson. Luncheon was served by the hostess and visiting enjoyed dur ing the afternoon. A special evening was in store for the ladles of the Chere Amies Club as Mrs. Zina Rigby entertained enter-tained on Thursday. Meeting at the ceramics laboratory on the College of Southern Utah campus. cam-pus. Prof. Max Weaver demonstrated demon-strated at the pottery wheel. Several pottery pieces were completed com-pleted in the first stage during the evening. Following the most Interesting demonstration, the ladies were invited to see the other types of art work being taught in this department. Responsible Re-sponsible for the evening's pro-tto pro-tto was Mrs Max Weaver. A delicious apple crumble was served by Mrs. Rigby to complete com-plete the evening. It was a husband and wife night for the Cazania Club members mem-bers on Wednesday evening. To begin the special evening, a delicious de-licious Mexican dinner was served serv-ed by committee members Margaret Mar-garet SJoblom, Afton Topham, ; Shirley Gunn, Maureen Lunt. j and Alice Thompson. Following the dinner hour a program was enjoyed after which games occupied occu-pied the -balance of the evening. ' . . Mrs. Miles Watters was hostess to her club members on Thursday Thurs-day evening. Sewing wa on the agenda as the ladies visited together. to-gether. With their projects laid aside the ladies were later served a delicious refreshment by the hostess. |
