Show WHAT DOES THE BIBLE TEACH? Fy Bob Reynolds THE INSPIRATION OF THE BIBLE In studying this subject we will ask a question and then answer it. The question is: "Was the Bible written by men who were divinely inspired or did they write what and how they pleased?" The answer to this question is very important. If the Bible was written by uninired men it is nothing but a good book. However, if it was written by inspired men it is not just a book, but is is "The Book of Books," God's word, and is to be studied and heeded as such. But some one might be ready to ask, "What does the word 'inspiration' mean, as used in the Scriptures?" It simply means "breathed into by God," hence, the inspired writers wrote as God moved them. Another question that arises sometimes is, "What is the difference between 'revelation" and 'inspiration'?" "Inspiration" means a supernatural influence which enables en-ables men to teach, by speaking or-writing, exactly what God wants taught. "Revelation" is the means which God uses to enlighten a person concerning divine truth. Now we return to our original question: "Was the Bible Bi-ble written by inspired men?" Let's go to the Bible itself for some answers. Peter said, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. interpreta-tion. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved bv the Holy Ghost" (2 Peter 1:20-21). Paul likewise said, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God" (2 Timothy 3:16). The fact that the Bible is inspired is not only proven by what the Bible says about itself, but is also proven by the fact that no part of the Bible contradicts any other oth-er part of it. Sometimes people make the claim that the Bible contradicts itself, but if and when they study all of it properly they will find this is not so. God is not an author of confusion. Since the Bible is the inspired Word of God, we should always asked the question, "What Does the Bible Teach?" Schedule of Services SUNDAY 10 a. m. Bible Study 11 a. m.
