Show Winners Announced in Elks-Sponsored Meet i Hi I 4 j i 1 : . 4 I I A I . DAVID RANDALL Two Cedar City High School students and one from Pangultch High won the top honors in the recently completed Most Valuable Valu-able Student Scholarship Award conducted by BPOE Lodge No. 1556 in Cedar City. First place winner and the recipient re-cipient of a $75 cash award is David Randall, senior studei.t at Cedar High School. Second place honors went to Merlin K. Partridge, Par-tridge, a student at Pangultch High School and Joanne Lunt, another Cedar City student captured cap-tured third place. Partridge received re-ceived a $50 cash prize and Miss Lunt $25. Randall Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Randall and Miss Lunt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lanell Lunt. The winner, wl.o was also entered en-tered In the state-wide competition, competi-tion, was among the top five percent per-cent of his class in scholastic standings and has a host of extra-curricular activities In school, church and community in which he has participated. He was a member of the Cedar High School basketball team thlK year. He has been especially ac tive In music circles of the school and was chosen to attend the all-state all-state band and all-state orchestra as first clarinetist and has served as an officer and student director of the High School band. He won first divisions at regional re-gional music festivals on his clarinet and as a piano soloist as well. In addition he has won similar ratings In various group participation. David holds membership In the Key Club organization on the tamrttsa nnt wnm m mamluf nf last year's type team that participated parti-cipated In the CSU vocational day activities. He Is president of his LDS Seminary class and has also been president of the Cedar Stake Junior M-Men in addition to a number of positions on the quorum level. In addition he has contributed much to the community by participating par-ticipating and entertaining at various functions. |
