Show Iron County Winners Selected for State "Make It Yourself With Wool" Contest Iron County entrants in the' State "Make It Yourself With Wool" contest, were named Saturday Sat-urday at the annual county-wide oornpoiUitin staged at the library Lounge at College of Southern Utah. One senior and three juniors were named to travel to Salt Ike City today, Thursday, for the state competition, representing represent-ing Iron County. In addition other prizes were awarded and a winner was named nam-ed in a Sub-teen portion of the contest. Ilcpresenting the .senior division divi-sion will be Phyllis Brown, l'aro-wa l'aro-wa , daughter of Mr. and Mis. Thales Brown. Miss Brown entered en-tered the competition with a blue wool dress with three-quarter length sleeves. She is a fresh ma ;i at CSU. Three entries compete I in the senior division. In the junior division 22 girls entered the competition and three were named to enter the state contest this week. One of the winners is Noma Melling, daughter of Mrs. Thelma Melling Mell-ing of Cedar City. For Miss Melling Mell-ing it will be her second year as a junior division winners. She is a junior at Cedar City High School and she m&de a plaid coat with lining and a fur collar. Sage Lunt, a sophomore at Cedar Ce-dar High School and a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Lunt, was named as one of the three state entrants with her sports outfit that included fitted slacks, a blouse, dickle and a pouncho all in blue. Third entrant is Andrea Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Le- I Roy Adams of Pa rowan and a student of Parowan High School s-sojp oo.w pjj p.uojuj oqs with three-quarter length sleeves. Winner in the sub-teen competition compe-tition with three entries, was Miss Carol Jean Higbee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Higbee. ! Miss Higbee is an eighth grade student at the Cedar City Junior I High School. All three of the sub- ! teens entered jumpers. I Other prizes were awarded and j gifts presented courtesy of various vari-ous manufacturers and suppliers I They encluded such items a' sewing kits and skirt length wool j pieces. Judges for the Iron County ; contest were Mrs. Rninonn Stubhs of Parowan; Mrs. Christine Win-terrose Win-terrose and Mrs. Phil Ogden o' 1 Cedar City with Mrs. LaRuc . Sehmutz as recorder. In the state competition tlii week the four young ladies along with other entries from throughout the state, will be entertained en-tertained for two days at Hotel Utah where they will be given I help in grooming and makeup in addition to participating in the various contests. |
