Show ParowanCityTo Observe 113th Birthday Tan. 13 The Paulina and Kli.abeth Camps of the Daughters of Pioneers Pio-neers and the Little Salt Lake Chapter of the Sons of Utah Pio-ners, Pio-ners, all of this city, are cooperating cooper-ating in sponsoring the obseiv-ance obseiv-ance of Parowan City's 113th birthday on Monday, Jan. 13, according ac-cording to the officers of the three groups. An all-day program has been outlined with the first event on the agenda to be a public meeting meet-ing put on r,y the two DUP Camps beginning at 11 a. m. in the Third Ward chapel. All events of the day will be held in that chapel according to the plans. Following this program and beginning be-ginning at 12 noon, there will be the annual group luncheon sponsored by the DUP. All family fam-ily groups in the city are urged to come and participate in this event, as well as those who attend at-tend from out-of-town. Eats will be furnished for all of the out-of-town visitors and for all city residents res-idents over 80 years of age to be guests of the DUP for the luncheon. lunch-eon. The Sons of the Pioneers will sponsor the afternoon meeting to begin at 2 p. m. and at which a special address will be given by Prof. A. Carl Larson, member of the faculty of Dixie College, and author of pioneer history publications. . Following the afternoon meeting, meet-ing, there will be dancing in the rerecreatlon hali. Program for the 11 a. m. meeting meet-ing is as follows: Musical selection by the DUP harmonica band, a reading by Tonl Wilcock, a song by a girls' sextette from the high school, - composed of Brenda Chamberlain, ' Diane Orton, Kathleen Mitchell, Annette Stubbs, Kathleen Rowley, Row-ley, Cheri Worthen, accompanied accompan-ied by Geraldine Stubbs.; a vocal duet by Helen Whitney and Marian Hyatt and a reading by Wm. T. Davenport. Program for i!.e fternoon will comprise the following numbers: Musical number by a high school instrumental sextette, the prayer by R. Taylor Miller, chaplain, chap-lain, address of welcome by Mayor May-or Osmer Nielsen, musical by the sextette, reading of the prize Pioneer Story in the story writing writ-ing contest sponsored by the SUP with the winner to read the story. A number by the harmonica band, address by Mr. Larson, a musical number from the high school group, a report by a representative rep-resentative of the national organization, or-ganization, closing song by congregation con-gregation and prayer by chaplain. |
