Show Legion Auxiliary Selects Delegates To Girls' State The Cedar City Unit of the American Am-erican Legion Auxiliary have selected se-lected four girls from the Junior class of the high school to attend Girls' State of Utah, to be held in Logan, June. 11th through 18th. Eligibility is limited to any girl in the last half of her Junior year of Senior High School, regardless of whether that year ends in June or February, it is this educational level which best suits the program. Each girl is expected to return home for the completion of her High School course and furnish Leadership to her school and community. She must be first of all, a leader lea-der in her school, and must be in the upper third of her school scholastic-ally, with at least a B average. She must be of good character, honest, mentally alert and must have qualities of courage cour-age and coojerativeness. The four delegates are: Karen Christensen, daughter of Mr. and M's A. L. Christensen; Judy Ann Matheson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon A. Matheson; Pat Truman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow G. Truman; and Bonnie Clark, daughter of Mrs. Roberta P. Clark. Girls' State of Utah has been held for fourteen years at Logan and the Cedar City Unit of the A. L. A. have been proud to send girl delegates each year. The girls participate in this worthwhile worth-while project where they are taught the practical application of Americanism. They are sent to Girls' State to learn how and what a demorscy is, and how it functions. The leadeis try to cultivate a desire in the girls to follow in the path of opportunity and the responsibility of true citizenship. Mrs. Nettie Baldwin, President of the A. L. A., and Mrs. Blanche Dotson, chairman of Girls' State, wish to thank the clubs who are serving as sponsors. The Lions Club, the B. P. O. E. Club, and the Lady Elks have been contacted con-tacted and expressed theif desire de-sire to sponsor a girl with financial finan-cial help so she can attend this wonderful school of democracy. Also, they wish to thank principal princi-pal Pratt Bothers for his help in ! this matter. |
