Show Council Considers Matters Raised at Meat Cedar City Council met in regular reg-ular session Thursday evening. Jan. 3 and considered several important matters, relative to the beginning of the 1957 year. A bid submitted by Thorley Motor Company to replace the 1956 Plymouth police car was accepted. Thorley Motor was low with a bid of $226.90 with trade. Two other bids were received Bradshaw Chevrolet submitted a bid of $277.19 and Lunt Motor submitted a bid for $255. Thorley Thor-ley will furnish the city with a 1957 Ford. The City also received two additional ad-ditional applications for the existing ex-isting vacancy on the police force. The two new applications were from Brent J. Lovell an1 Lester P, Blackurn. These, with the three previously received from Lynn Reeves, Jim Barton and Gary Macfarlane were re. ferred to Chief of Police Tony Lambert for his recommendation. recommenda-tion. Approval was given by the council for the purchase of some minor equipment for use in th" city offices and the OK was given giv-en for the call for bids for an electric typewriter for use in the office and also a reconditioned wide carriage machine for use in the Justice of the peace's office. of-fice. Specifications can be obtained ob-tained at the city offices. A petition was heard from the residents of Haslam Avenue, between be-tween 300 and 400 North, for the Installation of a sewer line. The residents had agreed to fay for the sewer and the city gave approval to the Installation. In addition the council authorized the replacing of approximately 300 feet of a.wer lilno on North 300 Wesl. Thtr change was approved and city attorney Patrick H. Fenton ha been directed to take care of the legal aspects of the change.
