Show Las Vegas Rythmettes Will Appear in CSU-Dixie Half time The "Rythmettes" famous Las Vegas, Nevada, precision marching march-ing and dance group, will be guests of the College of Southern Utah Saturday, Jan. 23 and will perform at haiftlme In the basketball bas-ketball game between CSU and the Dixie Rebels. This group of high school girls from Las Vegas have won an enviable reputation throughout the United States with guest ap-pearances ap-pearances on he popular Ed Sullivan Sul-livan TV show, and as first place winner in the National Y-Day contest a the Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, California. They have appeared at a number num-ber of international conventions and have been introduced on the floor of the United States Senate. One of the best HI not the best of its kind In the U. S. the "Rhythmettes" adhere to high standards wirh a i;vtto "Perfection "Perfec-tion In Performance reflects perfection per-fection in living." Purpose of the organization, according to Evelyn Stuckey, director dir-ector of the "Rhythmettes" is " to provide wholesome activity ac-tivity and companionship for the members ? to perform precision marching and dancing routines; and to set high standards of character and behavior for the students of Las Vegas High School. According to Mrs. Stuckey, this is the only group of its kind In the United States. 'Their performance techniques are unusual and completely orl-gional. orl-gional. The group does not have a captain nor does it use commands. com-mands. "Each Rhythmette !s an adept choreographer and all presentations presenta-tions are entirely student-created. 'Their repertoire includes brilliant bril-liant military numbers, contemporary contem-porary dance production numbers, num-bers, preosion dance routines and novelty production numbers. "The Rhythmettes are famous for the perfection and group precision pre-cision which they strive to attain at-tain fpr every performance. They set extremely high standards of behavior and character for young peopje thoughout the state of Nevada. "About seven members graduate gradu-ate each spring. Replacements are selected from more than 200 candidates, after extensive training train-ing sessions, by a ten-member Rhythmette faculty committee," according to their director. It is estimated that the group performs for audiences totaling almost a million people each year. |
