Show Redmen Triumph Over Kanab Covboys In their second game of the 1960 Dixie Division basketball race the Cedar Redmen got into the win column with a 61 to 43 win over Kan&b Cowboys. Game Was played at the CSU fieldhouse In Cedar City Wednesday, Jan. 13. Game was played somewhat on an even basis through most of thi first half of the play with the Redmen leading all the way, but never by any big margin. In the third period of play the Redmen caught fire with Doug Haycock leading the attack with outside shooting and Jeff Marchant, who hit 22 points in the game, heading up the fast break attack. Kanab scored first to go in lead 2 to 0 and the Redmen counted to even it up. Two quick buckets by Marchant off the fast break, put the Redmen in front early in the first period and they were never headed the rest of the game. Cedar moved to a 14 to 11 first quarter lead and barely managed to maintain that lead against the aggressive Cowboys to 24. Third period the game was put on ice as the Redmen began be-gan to hit ar.d drive for easy layups to force the Cowboys out of the zone defense. At the end d the third period the Redmen had a 12 point margin. 49 to 37 and they pushed that to 61 to 43. Marchant was high man on the floor with 22 followed by Haycock wh 14, 10 of those coming in the third period of plav. David Robinson for the visitors had 13. Redmen shot a good 40.5 percentage per-centage from the field and 67.3 from the foul line. Kajnab hit 30 rxycent fim u Held In the first half of play 'iiT topped to 16 percent In the second half.
