Show Bantam Basketball - Undertaken By Guard, Jaycees Practice sessions for the Bantam Ban-tam league basketball program will get under way Saturday forenoon under the Joint sponsorship spon-sorship of the National Guard and the Cedar City Jaycees, according ac-cording to Glen Anderson and Lefty Bratton, co-chairmen. Regular league play will begin be-gin Saturday, Jan. 30, it was announced, an-nounced, and will run for seven weeks. All games will be in the Junior high school gymnasium. Practice sessions on the 23rd will begin at 8:45 a. m. Eight teams will be sponsored in the league play with eligible 'boys participating between the ages of 11 and 13, Inclusive. Nickname and the sponsors of the eight teams are as follows: "Bears," Miller Auto Parts; "T-Birds," "T-Birds," Thorley Motor Company; "Rams," Dr. John Beal; "Bucks" Clarence Lamoreaux; "Corvets," Bradshaw Chevrolet; "Cadets," Hunter Hardware; "Eagles," Iron County Record, and the "Fireballs," "Fire-balls," Cedar Bowling Lanes. New uniforms will be purchased purchas-ed for the teams along with warm-up jackets, the co-chairmen stated. At the conclusion of league play a team will advance to the state finals in Salt Lake City In mid-March. This team will be composed of an all-star team from the Cedar City league. |
