Show Cedar City Youth Loses Life in California Car Crash, Funeral Services Held Wednesday - i ROBERT (BUTCH) THOMPSON Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Ce-, Ce-, dar Sixth Ward for Robert Wes-I Wes-I ley (Butch) Thompson, 19, who was killed Saturday in an auto-mobile auto-mobile accident in Ncwhall, Cal. Sen-ices were conducted by Sam Gentry of the Cedar Sixth Ward Bishopric. Speakers included includ-ed Dr. J. S. Prestwich, Klien Rol-lo Rol-lo and Dixie Leavitt. Special musical numbers included in-cluded a musical selection by Myron Spraul accompanied by his daughter Chritine; a vocal s'lo by Christine Winterrose and a vocal solo by Cliff Williams. A memorium was given by La-Rue La-Rue Perkins. Prayer at the mortuary mor-tuary was by Steve Asmus, the invocation by Bishop James C. Sandberg, the benediction by Rex Harris and the dedication of the grave was by R. Paul Stokes. The youth was a graduate of the Cedar City High School and was working in California at the time of the accident. He had been a participant of the Cedar City youth programs of Little League and Pony League and was a member of All-Star teams in both leagues that advanced into regional finals in California. Following his graduation from High School he worked for a time with an auto parts firm in Cedar City before leaving for the coast where he was was employed at the time of his death. He was born In Cedar City ' August 31, 1943. He was the son 'of Wesley nd Mildred Coslett Thompson. He is survived by his parents, half brother, R. L. San-dors, San-dors, Indianapolis and a half sister, Mrs. Gayle (Dixie) Barnes, Tracy, Calif.; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cosslett, Cedar City. |
