IS STUDYING THE BIBLE WITH THE PROPER ATTITUDE By Bob Beraelds The way that we approach a study of the Bible Is very Important For Instance, as we begin a study of the Bible we should be revenent toward It After all it is the Word of God, rather than the words of men. We should also study the Bible meditatively and deliberately. de-liberately. We must have our minds free from other things if Bible study is to be profitable to us. We should study the Bible without already having our minds made up. Some people, holding certain beliefs, go to the Bible and try to find proof fcr them. We should be lovers of truth when we study the Bible or we might be deceived by error (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11). We should study the Bible with a desire to obey it. A common error of men is to try to change the scriptures to fit themselves rather than change themselves to fit the scriptures. There are certain blessings that are derived from a study of God's Word. We learn from 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that we receive teaching, reproof, correction, instruction in righteousness, and information to furnish us unto every work from God's Word. The child of God needs all this, and the Bible supplies this need. " ' Another blessing derived from studying God's Word, is that our hearts can be pricked by it (Acts 237; Hebrews 4:12). We thank God for this piercing, restraining, and correcting power over the heart. All deeds are first committed com-mitted in the heart; therefore, we guard the soul by first guarding the heart. We could go on and on enumerating the blessings that are had from studying God's Word, but they can all be summed up by saying that a study of the Holy Scriptures, coupled with obedience, will build us up and give us an eternal home with God. Too much depends upon Bible study for us to neglect it. Be sure and listen to "What does the Bible teach?" over KSUB each morning. Good reason why residents in Iron and Washington counties have more than doubled the use of electricity in their homes s ince 1949. In fact, Reddy's customers in our part of the West use an average of 57 more e lectricity than the national average for American Amer-ican homes. MOREOVER, keeping ahead of the region's growing demands for electricity to meet customer cus-tomer needs and general progress has been a real task of construction and building over the years. And the job is still going on with the present construction of a new 90 mile 138,000 J volt transmission line which will immediately add 10,000 kilowatts of new capacity to the power system of Iron and Washington counties. V- YET, in spite of higher production costs Reddy has managed to &eeP ahead of the steadily increasing needs for electric service yykrC'pvl and at low cost, too. Actually, because of increased efficiency of M--fexJL operations and the steadily greater average residential use of elec-CJT elec-CJT TOSC y tricity in Iron and Washington counties, the average cost per kilo tvatt iouris down 7.4 from 10 year ago. pCALIFORNIA-PACIFIC W U ' T I LIT I ES C OM PA NY |
