Show Former Cedar City Resident Dies at 85 Word was received Sunday of the death of George A. Lunt, 85, former Cedar City resident Mr. Lunt was a son of Henry and Ann Gower Lunt early Utah pioneers. Mr. Lunt 'a father was one of the original company of pioneers sent by Brlgham Young to found the iron Industry in 'Southern Utah. Mr. Lunt died in Durango, Colorado, Col-orado, where he has been visiting visit-ing with a son and daughter since December. I He was bom In Cedar City May 18, 1874. He went with his parents to Mexico while in his teens. His father was called with a number of other members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to pioneer an area in Mexico. The family made their home at Pancheo, Mexico. It was from this area that Mr. Lunt and his family were driven from Mexico during the raids of Poncho Villa. He married Kindness Johnson In Mexico, and after the raids they lived In Duncan, Arizona. While In Mexico, Mr. Lunt was a farmer and cattleman. He became be-came prominent -as a guide for hunting parties and received many citations for his expert marksmanship and for his guide service. After leaving Mexico he set up a dairy in Duncan. Surviving are two daughters and five sons: Mrs. Camilla Cir-ard Cir-ard and Wayne Lunt, Durango, Cola; Mrs. Ludean Mllhon, Mesa, Ariz.; Vernon, Salt Lake City; Randle, Morlnce, Ariz.; Howard. La Crusts, N. M.; and Edward, Duncan, Arizona, three Bisters, and two brothers also survive, Mrs. Violet Urie and Mrs. Maude Matheson, Cedar City; Mrs. Rachel Rach-el Black, Ogden; Parley and Heaton Lunt, Duncan, Arizona.. Funeral and burial is expected I to take place In Arizona. |
