Show I CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SVING Mrs. Virginia Webstei Of interest to the many friends of the Vernyle Matheson family is their recent visit to Cedar City where they were re-united with their son Brett who has been staying with Mrs. Matheson's parents, pa-rents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crosby of Orem, Utah. The couple with their daughters Laynett and Terry Ter-ry Ray traveled here from their home In Las Vegas. During their stay they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Matheson. The Jack I Crosbys, who enjoyed the Easter I reunion with their family, were I guests of Mrs. Rhea Wakeling. ' it was reported by the family that Laynett Matheson, who has been seriously ill, Is improving from her condition. Mr. and Mrs. Addison Tolle-strup Tolle-strup have had as guests at their home their daugnters Mary Louise and La Rue and their families. fa-milies. Mary Louise, who is now Mrs. Jack Wade, and her husband hus-band and four children spent the week end visiting. They make their home in Garden Grove, Cal. LaRue and DeWayne Terry of Anaheim, Calif., along with their family, had previously stayed in this area for four days. They also visited with DeWayne's parents, pa-rents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Terry of Enterprise, while they were here. A surprise visit with relatives was enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Henry McGlochlin and Mrs. Ida Dix during the Easter holiday. They were pleased to greet Ida's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ivie of Klamath Falls, Ore., along with Ray's daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Perin of San Francisco. Happy news of a new grandchild arrived to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cane of Cedar City last week. The Canes were informed via telephone, of the birth of a baby girl born April 8th at Laon Air-force Air-force Base in France. The infant girl is the first child of the former for-mer Alice Cane and her husband is MSgt. John McManus. OPEN HOUSE Open house was held In Cedar City Saturday night for newly-weds, newly-weds, Gale and Hazel Roberts. The nuptial party was given by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Roberts with their daughter in law, Dayle S. Roberts, serving as hostess. An Easter theme was carried out in decor with miniature minia-ture baskets adorning the tables set up in the Relief Society Room of the Second Ward Church where the event took place. Further Fur-ther decorations of flowers styled fror.i pink carnations added attraction at-traction for the guests who called call-ed between eight and ten to honor hon-or the couple. Assisting durrng the open house was Lauretta Monsen at the guest book; kitchen hostesses, hostess-es, Estelle Jarrett, Lura Roberts and Velma Roberts and serving girls Miss Peggy Roberts, Miss Shanna Nelson, Miss Mary Kay Matheson, Miss Hollie McDo- Curing the evening Jane Dinkel and Bobbie Rex were at the gift table with Ronnie and Jaye Lynn Monsen and Julie Ann Nelson as gift bearers. Following the nuptial festivities festivi-ties the couple returned to Salt Lake City were they are currently current-ly making their home. In attendance at a special General Motors training School In Salt Lake City recently was Gene Smith. Gene was accompanied accom-panied to northern Utah by his wife Lana and their daughter Markae. Combining pleasure and business, they visited with Shirley Shir-ley and Dick Beatty, the Mont Hunters and Mr. and Mrs. Alan Hunter. Many former Cedar City rest-dents rest-dents returned to this area for the Easter holiday. Spending time with their friends and with the Elton Jones family were Mr and Mrs. Gary Jones of Salt Lake City. From Orem, came Richard and Tonl Hunter and children, j They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leland DeMille and Mrs. Pauline 1 Hunter. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pace welcomed wel-comed their daughter Barbara and son-in-law Ted Kelsey of Las Vegas. Kendall and Mark Kelsey also enjoyed an Easter vacation with their grandparents here and in New Harmony. Early April visiors at the Beth Leigh home have been Edward Schoenfeld and his wife Mary from Porterville, Calif. Ed will be remembered as a former Art instructor at the Cedar City High School. He is now teaching at the Porterville High School. While the couple were here Mrs. Leigh entertained In their behalf at a Buffet dinner. Fourteen close friends of the Schoenfelds were invited to the affair. |
