Show Cedar Redmen Trounce Delta Rabbits Coach fllen Jackson's Hih high school Redmen footahll team showed "red" against the supposedly sup-posedly strong Delta Kahbits Friday Fri-day evening when the two met on the Delta gridiron in the initial ini-tial contest of the season for both teams. The charging Redmen came up with a 10 to 0 victory scoring three touchdowns and making one of the three conversions. Masters of the game at all times the Redmen played exceptionally good ball for their first game, stopping the Rabbits cold and going go-ing for good vardage almost at will. The Delta line was fairly small, against the Redmen but the back-field back-field men were big and fast. An effective defense and a hard rushing crew, however, held them in check. The Rabbits did not cross into Redmen territory until the fourth and final quarter, Sweeping the ends a number of times and depending on two practically equal "field generals" in the quarterback spot, Terry Bolander and Gail Fife, the Red-men Red-men rolled within the 20 yard line marker a number of times. Noticeable Weak Spot Most noticeable weak spot in the Redmen attack was the failure to make their conversions. All three were attempted by passes with the first connecting and the other two stymied by the Rabbits. trip for the Redmen and all played play-ed about equal time, proving that Jackson has depth this year. This Friday evening the Red-men Red-men travel to Panaca, Nev., to go up against the Lincoln County Coun-ty High School. Milford, Cedar City's opponent next week, has already al-ready defeated the Nevada crew and the game will serve as a sounding board as what can be expected next week. Dixie Division play gets underway under-way this week with Cedar drawing draw-ing the first bye. Games include Parowan at Milford, Hurricane at Kanab and Dixie at Beaver. |
