METTIE MATHESON Mrs. Mettie Matheson was honored hon-ored at an open house at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Al Harter, Sunday afternoon, September Sep-tember 5 on occasion of her 87th birthday anniversary. The center piece on the table: in the room where Mrs. Matheson ' greeted her callers, consisted of I a huge "87" with a little covered' wagon in the foreground, and an airplane resting lightly on the "7". Mrs. Matheson enjoyed her first plane ride three weeks ago, and the covered wagon and air-, plane in the centerpiece depicted the different modes of travel this elderly lady has employed during dur-ing her life time. Fifty friends called in the afternoon after-noon to extend their greetings and renew old acquaintances land Mrs. Matheson says she is already looking forward to her 1 90th anniversary' three years I hence. Mrs. Matheson still has an alert mind, and is able to thoroughly thor-oughly enjoy her family and friends. She has been an active worker in the LDS church, and has at one time or another during dur-ing her life been a worker in every organization. She has nine living children, 36 grandchildren, and 46 greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren i |
