Show Two-Day County Polio Emergency Volunteer Training Course Planned On June 3 and 4. a two day. training course for Polio Emergency Emergen-cy Volunteers will be held in the Escalante. hotel ballroom, which w ill be open to all ladies of Iron county. Dr. Joseph P. Kesler, the director of Crippled Children's Service of the Utah Public Health department, will be in charge of the training school, and Mrs. Ryan, physlotheaplst from Salt Lake City, mill demonstrate the therapeutic treatment of polio victims. The training school Is held annually an-nually in Utah, and its purpose is to instruct ladies through demonstration demon-stration and practice in the treat ment of polio in its early stages. Those completing the course are then designated as Polio Emergency Volunteers. An iron lung will be demonstrated, as will be the methods meth-ods of handling and hot-pack treatment. treat-ment. Since the early stages of polio call for prompt and decisive action, and such action plays a large part in determining the seriousness ser-iousness of the crippling effects of polio, It Is exceedingly Important that a group of ladles In each community com-munity be prepared to give this treatment. Therefore It Is hoped that a good number of ladles from Iron county will register for the course. Iron, Beaver, and Washington Washing-ton counties will be included in the area covered by the Training course. Mrs. Alice Wood, chairman of the Iron County Chapter of the National Nation-al Foundation for Infantile Parly-sis, Parly-sis, is in charge of the planning. All ladies desiring to register for the course are asked to call Mrs. Wood at 106-R, or drop her a card at 538 150th St. Registrations must be in her hands not later than May 28. This Is necessary so that sufficient suffi-cient equipment for instruction may be obtained. Luncheon will be served each day to those enrolled in the Escalante hotel.
