Show Recreation Camp In Cedar Canyon Needed The National Forest Service has indicated that a program of development de-velopment of forest recreation fu duties will soon 6;t underway, and hope that the "Dixie" Is planning to make some development In Cedar canyon. Sine! the change In the ennyon road made It necessary to abandon aban-don the Webster Flat campground there has been v,ry little development develop-ment of the new camp Just above Wood's ranch. Of course restrictions restric-tions necessitated by war lias made development Impossible during recent re-cent years, but now that the war is over It Is hoped that Hie Cedar ennyon camp will be properly developed. de-veloped. Potential use of such facilities Li generally the deciding factor In the appropriation of funds for any such development, and if this Is true the Cedar City project should receive serious consideration. Fine camps hove been establWied In Parowan canyon, at Pine Valley Ducn Creek and Navajo Lake,, and it Is almost a CPrtalnlty that a camp near Cedar City would be much more extensively used than any of them with the possible exception of the Navajo lak camp. The Cedar canyon camp would be close to tiie largest population center of the arpa, and In addition there ls a greater percent of the population of Cedar City, who because be-cause of the nature of their employment em-ployment have little chance to get out Into th" open than in any other town In the area. The present camp ls extensively used, but If better facilities were provide the use would be tremendously tremend-ously Increased. |
