Show School Leaders Address Lions Club Problems cf the Iron County School district were discussed at the meeting or thL Lions Club Monday, Mon-day, when N. J. Barlow, whe recently recent-ly resigned from the petition of Iron County Schools Suuerlntend.-m' and lanthus Wright, his successor,1 addressed the group. Mr. Barlow, who has been head of the local school system for twen- ty-one years, traced the growth and rhang 8 of the sechool In that time and emphasized the fact that wholehearted whole-hearted cooperation on the part of the people of the county had made most of the Improvement possible. He expressed his appreciation for the support he has! received from the Lion Club, and Its members, and urged that similar support be given to Mr. Wright. Mr. Wright, In outlining seme of the problems of the system, pointed out that because of war time conditions con-ditions there are twenty-one vac-ancles vac-ancles In the terxhlng staff of the schools, which Is an unusually lar?e percent when It Is considered that the staff Is normally composed cl se-enty-five teachers. He pointed out thot It appears that extrem? dif-flcultu'.ty dif-flcultu'.ty will be encountered tn filling fil-ling this large number of vacancies. In addition to the vacancies that now prevail, he stated, there are indications that other teachers may resign before the school term opens In September. Captain Arlo Steward and Cor-poial Cor-poial Max Gardner, home on furlough fur-lough from military service, also spoke brlifly, telling of some of their experiences. |
