Show Hopper Eradication Campaign Started In County Farm Area The campaign to eradicat?. if possible, pos-sible, the grasshopers from the Infested In-fested areas In the county, was b:gun this week, when the County Agricultural Agricul-tural Agent, Lamont E. Tuell r, assisted as-sisted farmers of Paragonah in mixing mix-ing poison bait for grasshopper con-' trol. ' I The bait materials, bait bran and the poison agent us?d which is scd-! ium fluosillcate, is furnished by the Bureau of Entomology of the U. S.1 Department cf Agriculture, through Dr. Oeorge F. Knowlton, Extension Entomologist of the State Agricultural Agricul-tural College, who is in charge of grasshopper control work in the State. The County grasshopper posioning program Is under the direction of thc; County Agent Lamont E. Tueller, and farmers in the New Castle, Kanarra1 and Paragonah areas, where grass-j hopper outbreak is threatening to do severe damage to corps, should con-' tact Mr. Tueller If thsy desire to' use poslon bait as a means of controlling con-trolling this pest. Some farmers In the county are using turkey flocks to gcod advant- age in eliminating grasshoppers from their fields. Controllng grasshoppers by means of turkeys Is the most effective ef-fective and profitable way of eliminating elimin-ating this pest. The hopper furnish excellent natural feed nutrients for' turkeys and saves tremendously on regular turkey feed rations ard at the same time eliminates the pest completly. I I |
