Show Hulse Meld Without Bail Fop District Court Murdog Charge Trail John Hulse of Kanarra was brought before Precinct Justice Alex H. Rollo Saturady for preliminary hearing on a murder charge filed against the defendant as th? result of the death of Edwin Hamblin of Cedar City on June 4th. Hamblin died cf injuries alleged ly Inducted by Hulse in a fight on the night of June 2nd, which started start-ed with an argument over an automobile auto-mobile crash a few minutes earll.r. Cecil Starr, another victim of the fight, who has been in a a rious condition until recently, has recovered re-covered sufficiently to leave the hospital. Hulse was not represented bf counsel at the Saturday hearing, and declined to testify In his own behalf or to call any witnesses to testify. County Attorney Durh.i Morris called four wltncps to the stand, Dr. A. L' Oraff. who attended the Injured man; Police Officer Preston Pres-ton Wood, who was called to th? scene of the fight; LaMar Hamblin, son of the dead man, and Lorraine Condie, a neighbor who hrard the argument and went to the scene after Hulse had left. Dr. Graff testified that Hamblin sustained severe lacerations of lv face and bruises about the head and chest, and that ribs were fractured frac-tured in the fight, presumably by kicking or tramping, had penetrated penetrat-ed the lung and dlaphram. Heavy logging - boots, raid to have ben worn by Hulse the night of the fight, were Introduced as an exhibit, since the defendant had admitted kicking Hamblin after he had been knocked unconscious. Preston Wood, police officer called call-ed to Investigate after Hulse had notified the Sheriff of the fight, testified that Hulse told him cf the argumrnt and the fight, and that Hulse repored that he feared that' one of the men might be dead. Lamar Hamblin, 13-year-old son of the dead man told of finding his father unconscious near his home and his atfrnpta, with the help of two companions, to get his father to the hospital Lorraine Condie, only person to h-ar the argument besides Hulse's wife, testified that upon hearing the argument went to the wne, but at the request of Mr. Hulse, left wthout lnt-rferlng. He later return ed to find the two men. Hamblin and Starr, lying on the ground unconscious., un-conscious., and assisted In getting them to the hospital. Hulse may be arraigned b fore District Judge Will L Hoyt at Parowan Par-owan on June 26, when a one-day law and motion day is to be held.
