The FHA has for over five years been paying all operating expenses and losses of Its mortgage Insurance programs, at the same tlmfc adding substantially to Its Insurance reserves, re-serves, WORK OR FIGHT With the pending passage of some sort of a work or. fight bill for men of draft age, It is only natural that Congress should begin be-gin consideration of measures to supply the necessary nurses for the care of our wounded soldiers. The urgency of this draft is readily readi-ly understood when we rea.lze thai every day there are 1.200 injured soldiers being returned to the United Unit-ed States for care, to say nothing of those needing attention on the battlefields and in field hospitals. The Surgeon General's office repotted re-potted that during the months of January and February, despite urgent ur-gent pleas for nurses, only 1500 nurses a month responded. A letter let-ter sent directly from the Surgeon General to 27,000 nurses classified as available brought only some 300 applications. |
