Show Regular Army Needs Musicicans The Army needs young men and young women who can blow their ! own horns - a result of a shortage of qualified musicians In the Regular Reg-ular Army and the Women's Army Corps. During the recent war, the number num-ber of ranking musicians In the Army Ar-my reached huge proportions. Their principal duties were to keep up the morale of thousands of homesick and lonesome OIs all over the world However, since the war's end the j majority of GI music makers have ' accepted a discharge and have tak-' en up where they left off in clvillun 1 life. Hence the current shortage. Particular note was made recently recent-ly at the San Francisco headpuar-ters headpuar-ters of the Sixth Army area, which Includes the Intermountaln states, or a need for qualified musicians in the 400th Woman's Army Corps band. This organization Is i;ed principally at the Port of Lmbark-1 ation to entertain troops headed overseas with the occupation Army. Openings are available for former WACs who are able to play any oi the following Instruments: clarinets cornet or trumpet, base drum, snare drum, euphonium or baritone, flute or piccolo, French horn, saxophone, trombone and tuba. Applicants for re-entry Into the WAC are required to volunteer for the duration plus six months or until June 30, 1947. j The Army also is seeking qualified quali-fied men for assignment In the Army Ar-my Ground Forces band at Fort George O. Meade, Maryland. j |
