Show Cedar Redmen Begin Football Practice, Lose Three Regulars Coach , Byrne Femelius began football practice at the Cedar City high school Tuesday afternoon, although al-though he Is not yet sure whether the Redmen will play eleven or six-man six-man football this year. The coach Issued all the suits the school has and found that he had more seniors sen-iors and Juniors out for practice than he had suits, and none of the sophomores had yet reported because be-cause they were registering Tuesday Tues-day afternoon. Additional suits are expected In the near future and will be Issued as soon as they arrive. The District Athletic Council will meet soon, probably this week end, and at that time an attempt will be made to organize an eleven man football league In the district with Delta, Fillmore, Cedar. Dixie and probably Hurricane shifting to the eleven man game. The Redmen lost a number of outstanding out-standing gridders by graduation last spring including three regulars, Ward Midc'.leton, end; Dick Rice, center, and Lloyd Grames, back, David Hunt, back, who saw much action last year, and Sandy Corry and Erwin Hackett, who did some relief work last year, are also missing. miss-ing. The Redmen also lose Darwin Woodbury, who saw much action In the backfleld last year, and has done most of the team's kicking for the past two years. Darwin Is elegibk for another year of play, but ha; registered at Hurrlcan this year. Regulars from the 1M5 squad whe are back, are Alex Milne, outstanding outstand-ing halfback.; Douglas Mlddleton end; Miles Urte. and Lowell Sher-ratt. Sher-ratt. quarterbacks, Dono Webster halfback, and Drew Haight, center Many other squad members, but who did not see much action, are back again this year, together with a number of boys who have not played before. |
