Members of the crew and passengers aboard the United Slates transport plane that was forced down August 9 over Yugoslavia, by Yugoslav fighter planes, after their release b5 Yugoslav authorities, when the United States government had made an issue of the incident. Ten days later five American flyers were shot down over Yugoslavia, and perished. Marshal Tito assured Ambassador Richard Rich-ard Patterson that "there would be no repetition of this event."
