Show SELECTION OF KANE COUNTY ROAD The sentiment of late seems to be growing in favor of a state road across the "Sand' and up'through Long Valley. State Engineer Beers at the conclusion of his racent trip over thf roads of the county gave out the impression that perhaps it would pay to put our chief road across the "Sand" 'instead of through Johnson's Canyon. The Sink valley soil did not stand the' test; of good materal. ANq several milds of sand was counted to the discredit dis-credit of the Johnson route. Governor Spry has been known for some t'me to be favorable to tho route through the Valley. So, no doubt with the engineer's report before thorn tho state commission will at least consider con-sider carefully the feasibility of making a good road bed over the Sand without a "million- dollars." A highway has al-, ready been designated q MJ.j pafrAel. VJho fon valley pe'o-i pie will :Jao have a good road. But still thd&jwould like to have -- njusnsier way to reach the county coun-ty seat, and they havo coal which they would like to ship this way to market. But the case is up to tho people of Kanab, providing they can also convince tho state commission. Some of tho arguments put forth in favor of tho Sand routo are." To make an all year passable, pass-able, road the Sand route is cheaper per mile than the Johnson John-son route; the Sand route is nearer by several miles; the Sand routo will unite the county, coun-ty, it is the people's way and from the wasted energy of one year most of tho work might be done. According to the latest talk among the men of Kanab, it is quite probable that a petition may be sent up to the commission commis-sion asking for a designation of tho Sand rute. In fact, such a petition has already been written and is now going the round of signatures. Kane Couutj News. |
