Show PUMP TO BE PUT IN AT STATE WELL Preparations Being Made for Installation Instal-lation of Pump and Use of Water Wat-er on B. A. C. Farm. S- A. Hnlterman, Parowan's veteran vet-eran well-boror, and tho gentleman who had the contract for sinking the state experiment well a few miles west of this city, was in town yesterday yes-terday afternoon and this morning for tho purpose of taking some measurements meas-urements and giving information as to the character of the formation through which the well passed. To a Record reporter he stated this morning morn-ing that the ground between the 812 and 450 foot levels was very gravelly and porous, and that tho water pumped from the aurfaco for tho purpose pur-pose of removing tho drillings, quickly quick-ly disappeared in this formation, and that the water maintained nn oven level within eleven feet of tho surface. sur-face. It is now proposed to perforate the casing in a number of places between be-tween these depths, and then install a pump, which Mr. Halterman predicts pre-dicts will throw n continuous stream running up into tho hundreds of gallons gal-lons per minuto. It is proposed to use this water in irrigating a portion of tho B. A. C. arid farm which lies directly across the highway from the well, and experts ex-perts aro expected hero today from Salt Lake to install tho equipment and make the changes reforred to, so that within a week or two something definite defi-nite will be known in relation to tho practicability of pumping water for irrigating purposes in this valley. |
