Show THE Committee for the Iron County Coun-ty Fair does not appear to be a very energetic ono this year. Time in flying fly-ing past, and there is now little more than a month left before the date fixed for the fafr, and yet the premium pre-mium list has not been issued, the sporting programs are not out, and so far as we can learn there has been littlo actual work accomplished in any line. We were In hopes that tho work was going to be commenced early this year and everything kept well in advance, which is the only way to hold a thoroughly successful fair, but it seems to be tho same old story. We leave everything for the last few days, and then rush around and do what we can, and what we can't do we leave undone. Some time we will get tho matter of the county fair down to a moro businesslike basis, and it will bo handled differently. Tho de-toils de-toils will all bo entrusted to one or two competent persons who will bo remunerated for their timo and will make tho fair their principal business busi-ness and concern. It is not to be expected ex-pected that men will give any considerable con-siderable part of their time for a scries scr-ies of months to a work for which they rcceivo no adequate compensation. compensa-tion. Wo arc not blaming the Paro-wan Paro-wan committee, but arc merely criticising criti-cising a practice that is general throughout this and many other counties, but which materially detracts de-tracts from the success of county fairs and other celebrations. |
