Joseph Donley is suffering with a growth on his eye. t I, ML Rogers is !eraking ground with a tractor. Mr. Rogers is one of our progressive farmers. Mrs. O. D. Payne is expected home from a summer's outing spent In) Ogden Canyon. Mr. and Mrs. W. L Miller are spending a week in the Pixie country near St. George. Louie Paddock is attending to the fall work for his father who is in poor health. ft MesVr.s Greer, Muldoon, McLeod and Johnson of Modena, were business busi-ness visitors in Heist last Tuesday. The Misses Anna and Fiancis Dooley Dool-ey of ('ronton, Iowa, were here on a visit with their brothers Thomas, William Wil-liam and Joseph Dooley. Heist & Hogan have started their threshitig outfit, and will make their annual trip into the Newcastle and Enterprise valley. i The farewell party given to Mr. and Mrs. Perry and to Mr. and Mrs. Scad-den Scad-den of Modena, was attended by Messrs. Mes-srs. Hogan and the Misses Dooley, tf Mrs. M. D. Heist has received word that her brother, George Sylvester, has been commissioned first lieutenant, lieuten-ant, and will be stationed at the Pre-sido. Pre-sido. I.ieutentnt Sylvester is expected here on a short visit soon, en route to take charge of his command. Mr. (.'. I,. Heist has applied for enlistment en-listment in the Enginr.ering corps. With his past experience in civil engineering, en-gineering, no doubt he will be accepted. accept-ed. Several of our worthy youny men hape been called to the colors, and are making arrangements to leave soon. We should turn out en masse and bid our boys an enthusiastic farewell. Mr. Archie F. Wilson is respond-I respond-I ing to the selective draft, and has been adjusting his business affairs prior to leaving. He and Mrs. Wilson will visit in Elizabeth Lake, Califor- nia, with her parents, for a few days. We are sorry to lose such worthy people peo-ple from our midst. |
