Your membership in the Red Cross j has now expired and in order to have your name on the roll book of 1919 it1 will be necessary for you to pay a j renewal fee of one dollar. You will need no urging to do this, for by now you realize that it is as great an honor to be a member of the Red Cross as it is a disgrace not to belong. The war is over, but there are mil- , lions of hungry children, shivering J old people, sick, prisoners, whole na-, tions of naked, homeless, starving I people to be cared for; and our boys! are still "over there" and may be for I long time. All these look to the Red Cross. The Red Cross looks to you. And as you have answered the call for help in the past, so you will hear and answer it ' now. A membership fee for yourself and each member of your family, that is what you are asked to give. Expenses Ex-penses arc high and there are a dozen uses for every dollar that comes into the household, but when you hesitate, stop and think of the blessings of peace and health and prosperity you are enjoying, while such agony of spirit and body as you cannot conceive con-ceive is the portion of the people of Europe. You may not be asked for another donation for the Red Cross for a whole year. Then give the membership member-ship fee for yourself and each mem-ler mem-ler of your family and therby put your name on the roll of honor and help the local officers to reach the goal that is being aimed at all over the United States a 100'; membership member-ship of American citizens in the American Am-erican Red Cross. Henry I'. Davidson, the chairman of the War Council of the Red Cross sent out today a message to the nearly near-ly four thousand chapters and millions of members of the Red Cross all over the country, outlining the future policy pol-icy of the Red Cross. In substance he said that it is confidently con-fidently believed there need be no further fur-ther campaigns for Red Cross funds, but instead the annual Roll Call, which takes place this year commencing commenc-ing with December loth, will be the foundation of the Red Cross. There-1 fore the people should be informed as I definitely as possible the plans for the future conduct of the great humanitarian hu-manitarian society which they are asked to join. Since the armistice wns signed, Mr. Davison has conferred with the heads of all Red Cross commissions, both in Europe and America, and it is now definitely assured that the work is to go forward on a great scale, as an agency of peace and permanent human service. During the war the primary purpose was to aid our own soldiers first, then the soldiers of otu allies, and the civilian populations of Fu-rope. Fu-rope.
