The udders of heavy milking ewes are likely to become lntlaiiied and as u result the ewes may have milk fever. fe-ver. Overfeeding of grain, colds, chills and lying on wet floors ure some of the cauaes of this condition. When discovered, discov-ered, the ewe's udder should be bullied with hot wuter by means of woolen cloths. After the udder hns been dried, It cun be rubbed with turpentine and lard, or with one-half ounce of lead acetute dissolved in one quart of water. wa-ter. The udder should be kept wet with acetate for half a duy. It should he milked out thoroughly each time the application is made. It is ulso advisable advis-able to give the ewe a good dose of UpssMB salts us soou as the trouble Is noticed. |
