SO and 31, at a meeting of the board of governors held at the Commercial Club. President Presi-dent C. H. Hollingsworth presided pre-sided at the meeting. A committee com-mittee was appointed to re-arrange the by-laws of the league, the purpose being to revise the by-laws no that the league may be enlarged and more public good acomplished for the state. The league will hold a "clean town" contest and prizes will be offered for the best suggestions for a decrease in the number of cases of typhoid fever and the best way to eliminate the fly nuisance in the summer. It was pointed out that a good many typhoid cases have come from the contagion carried by flies. The development league proposes pro-poses to help rid the contamination. contamina-tion. Secy. T. B. Beatty, of the state boaid of health, made a few remarks and said that the state would be willing to co-operate to bring about better sanitary sani-tary conditions througnout '.the state. Driggs, ,wk(a KeKWrie of the, matter, " 'iThe town survey was discussed dis-cussed and the committee was appointed to investigate the possibilities pos-sibilities of laying out better 'streets in the towns of the state. It is composed of C R. Mabey of Bountiful, E. W. Dunn of Brighdm and R. T. Turber of Spanish Fork. The members of the board oi! governors of the Utah Development league are: C. R. Hollingsworth of Ogden, J. W. McHenry, Murray; J. M. Kirkham, Lehi; F. M. Driggs, Ogden; E. W. Dunn, Brigham City; H. Bullen, Logan; R. T. Thurber, Spanish Fork; G. R. Mabey, Bountiful, and Will G. Farrell, Salt Lake; H. C. Carpenter, assistant secretary sec-retary of the league, tendered his resignation yesterday afternoon after-noon at the meeting, he having accepted a position with the Vogeler Seed company. Mr. Carpenter Car-penter has been connected with the league for several months and has accomplished a great deal in promoting the development develop-ment of the state Deseret News |
