Taken as a whole the official I family is a very strong one and e, the administration is now fully r '- launched on its biennial cruise. J The ensuing two years should . . witness some Important changes in Cedar City as well as the other towns and other cities of i southern Utah, and the official family will have much to do with the shaping of our destiny. The policy of the new administration adminis-tration will be closely watched on a number of questions of im-t im-t portance to the citizens. To start off with the Council has before it for consideration two applications for license for the conducting of pool halls, the last one submitted at the last meeting by Walter Granger and E. H. Macfarlane. Both this 1 and the application by Mrs. Bell, ' proprietor of the Cedars hotel, are in the hands of the committee commit-tee on petitions. The enforcement of the ordinances ordin-ances in relation to the sale of ! liquor, like the poor referred to - by the Savior, isjwith us always., and requires constant support f and nourishment. Then there is the legislation asked for by the ladies of the Relief Society ." to compel more sanitary condi- ! tions within the citv. Perhaps the problem of most '' ' importance and the one most difficult of adjustment is the need for an additional supply of water for culinary purposes, and the unsatisfactory condition of g the wooden vater mains through the city.- This problem must be satisfactorily solved before the i if ! city can grow and extend to any great extent. All together, we believe that the city administration can find enough to do to keep it out of mischief for a few months at least. |
