Show LONG TIME FORECAST OF TEMPERATURE POSSIBLE. I Utah Agricultural College Meteor-1 ologist Has Worked Out Weather Formulae i Dr. Frank L. West, Professor of Physics nt the Utah Agricultural Col-lego Col-lego nnd Physicist and Meteorologist for the Utnh Experiment Stntion, has . just returned to Logan from 'St. Louis, whoro he attended meetings of tho American Association for the Ad- vancement of Science. Dr. West rend n pnper on Long-j Time Tempernture Forecasting nt the conjoint session of tho American Meteorologist Met-eorologist nnd Amcricnn Geogrnph-J icnl Societies. In this pnper Dr. West recounted the results of extensive experiments ex-periments carried on by him nt the Utah Agricultural College. As n re-' suit of these experiments Dr. West I hns formulnted for tho arid portion of the earth's surface those laws thnt1 show how the temperature varies with i the season of tho year nnd tho timci of the day. These laws he hns reduced i to mathematical formulae. I By means of these formulae Dr. West can forcenst the probable tempernture tem-pernture at n given plnco for a given hour of the dny from three to six months in ndvnncc. The results permit per-mit of prncticnl npplicntion in predicting predict-ing when tho lnying of cement in the fnll will hnvo to he discontinued duo to low temperature, in predicting I probable minimum temperature for nny given dny for the orchnrdist, nnd in n number of other wnys. i : |
