The road between this place and Lund is tho worst in its history. his-tory. It takes a big strong team all day to make it from Lund to tho Snr ver ranch, a distance of barely 12 miles, with a ton of mail or express. Motor vehicles of all kinds nro practically practic-ally useless on tho other end of the road near Lund. Mr. Perry has had to resort to teams and wagons to move the rapidly accumulating parcel post r..til. He 1ms one load on the wny which should nrrive somo timo Saturday and has started two moro teams to Lund for mail matter. Tho first, second and third class mail is being hauled to Sarvor with horses and there loaded on trucks nnd transported trans-ported tho remainder of the distance. For tho past two years thcro has been tnlk of concrete, hard surfaced nnd combination ronds between this place and Lund nnd enough money hns been spent between tho Stnto nnd Federal government rond departments in engineering nnd in see-sawing to hnvo surfaced tho worst of this rond nnd made it passable the year round, but still we nro right where we were when they started. The ever present talk of a railroad, too, has had its effect in holding bnck improvement improve-ment of thu wugon nnd nuto rond. but it is nbout timo we got down to "brass tucks" nnd did something besides tnlk. It should ba remembered thnt 10.000 people nre dependent upon this thirty odd miles of road for their mnil, express, freight and pnssenger service. serv-ice. During tho month of December lnst yenr tho mnil contractor handled 40 tons of mnil over this route. And to think thnt wo must continue yent nfter yenr to drnjj all this business in wet weather through n bog holo nnd in dry weuther through nn nsh bed of silt, is a disgrace to the stato to the people of this district nnd tc tho fedenrnl government which professes pro-fesses to bo doing something for tin improvement of post ronds throughoul tho country.
