Show Hamburg's First Bourse. Hamburg's first Bourse, established in 1558-1660, was a shcltorlcss, paved mooting place, 112 foot long and 42 feet wldo, supported toward tho water wat-er front by means of bulwarks, and having Its thrco other sides surrounded surround-ed by a low stono wnll. In 1577 tho bourse was enlarged by adding a cloth hall, supplied with a roof. Tho present bourso also differs in many respects considerably from American and other foreign exchanges. No membership oxists hero, but attendance attend-ance and admlttanco to all privileges of the floor froo of chargo Is permitted permit-ted to overy respectable male person. |
