Show JOYOUS CHRISTMAS At Reams St. Ann's Orphanage The Little Ones All Made Happy. Wednesday afternoon Santa Claus visited the children of St. Ann's orphanage. or-phanage. He came laden with precious gifts. All the little ones, over 160, received re-ceived a substantial and useful gift. No happier crowd of children could te found airywrhere. In the large hall the platform was decorated with little chairs, dolls, balls, book?, candy, work boxes, together w ith numberless Christmas Christ-mas toys. Mrs. J. W. Wood, who donated do-nated dozens of neatly bound books, was present to enjoy the distribution. Bishop Scanlan, Senator Kearns and Mrs. MT. H. Walker were interested spectators, and enjoyed the musical programme which preceded the distribution. distri-bution. Mrs. Kearns, the real Santa Claus. picked out for each child its Christmas gift, which was handed to the ehildreni by Edmund and- little Thomas Kearns. Another pleasing incident in-cident of the distribution was the handing hand-ing to each Child an autograph letter from Bishop Scanlan to the children w ho write to him their Christmas greetings greet-ings every' year. Mr. David Keith, though absent, did not forget the little ones. His telegraphic greetings were to have all well supplied wiih a good turkey dinner on Christmas. This wa supplemented by Senator Kearns' orde? for the best b?ef in the market, together to-gether with a carload of coal. Long live the generousi donors and sympathizers sympa-thizers of those dear little children, who will always retain happy and pleasant memories of their innocent days spent at Kearns St. Ann's orphanage. |
