Never before, perhaps, did the pupils of th Sacred Heart academy present a Christmas entertainment to 60 large an audience as on last Tuesday evening. even-ing. Every number from the faint, sweet song of the two 5-year-old totd to the swelling "Adeste" of the choral class, was greeted with enthusiastic applause. The chief feaure of the entertainment en-tertainment was a Xmas cantata by the Juniors and minims, and the harmonious har-monious blending of the sweet young voices touched a tender chord in every heart. Indeed, every vocal and instu-mental instu-mental selection wag a worthy tribute to the musical training for which Sacred Heart is so noted. The only-literary only-literary number was an excellent es-sav. es-sav. "Christmas, the Universal Inspir ation' by the post-graduate, Miss Ma-guire. Ma-guire. Rev. P. M. Cushnahan paid a glowing glow-ing tribute to the pupils and closed the evening's entertainment by an admirable ad-mirable discourse on the "True Source of All Christinas Joy." The programme rendered was: "There Were Shepherds," from "The Prince of Peace" .Senior Vocal Class Essay, "Xmas the Universal Inspiration" Inspi-ration" Miss Anna Maguire Cantata, "Santa Claus" ... Scene I. Soprano solo, "Delight" ' Miss A. Ryan Scene II. Violin duet, March from "Tannhauser," Misses A. Maloney and S. Powell. Scene III. Vocal trio, "Ave Maris Stella," Misses A. Ryan, I. Toma-sek Toma-sek and M. Coltman. (Accompanied on violins by Misses D. Maloney, S. Powell and J. Tarter.) Mazurka S. II. a. Cecelian club "Come All Ye Faithful". .Choral Class Christmas Exercises at St. Joseph's. Music and charm lent their charm to the Xmais exercises of St. Joseph's school, but a richly-laden gift-bearing Christmas tree held trie place of honor. Perhaps a merrier-hearted group of boys and girls would be hard to find than the pupil3 of that school, as they bore off their stockings of candy and treasured present's.
