The young ladies' of the St. Cecelia j chorus are expected to attend rehearsal I on Sunday morning at 9:30. ; The children will meet for rehearsal on Saturday afternoon, as usual. Miss Martha Connor, who has a very promising mezzo-soprano voice, was one of the soloists at the 8 and 9 o'clock masses on Sunday. Isabel Higgins, Nellie Geary, Clara I Fal'ek were sweet little soloists last ; . Sunday. j j Service will be held at the Utah I state penitentiary on Sunday. Nellie II Geary and Isabell Higgins will be the I . soloists. Anions the splendid soprano voices of the cathedral choir none is sweeter than the beautiful voice of Miss Myrtle Weber. - Miss Weber is very ' modest and has never yet consented to do solo I work. Her many friends hope to hear her shortly in a pretty offertory. Mis-s "Weber has a charming personality th.-it rndears her to all. ctnd is verv popu'ar v ith all the members of the choir. Miss Owen certainly sustained her reputation n Waster- as the best soprano so-prano over heard at St. Mary's. The ladies of the Altar society are I 1" '.be congratulated on the beauty of I the altars last Sunday. Great boxes of I I viiite flowers and dozens of lilies came I Irom Mrs. Thomas K earns. Surely no I Ionian is more thoughtful or generous 1 I than the -.harming wife of our own) 1 Senator Kerns. I I A large box of pretty ha is have been j j generously donated by G. W. Heck- I meyer of the Keokincyer Millinery I l, company for the little ones of the I i Kearns St. Ann's orphanage. J The beautiful music of last Sunday I be repeated next Sunday by spe- I eial request. This is for the benefit I oi many of the Catholics who attended I the early masses, thereby giving many I non-Catholics a chance to attend the 11 I 'lock service. A pleasing feature of I last Sunday was that pews were cheer- .1 fully surrendered to the visitors. I - I The Holy Week services were beau- I tiful and were well attended. On Good J Friday night, after the Tenebrae, Rev. I Father Morrissey delivered the sermon. I On Holy Thursday night Rev. Father I Turran preached. 1 The Alumna? of St. Mary's academy 1 vill in the near future arrange for 1 '.he annual meeting of the association. 1 l.ving to the "serious illness of Sister j Lucretia. the superior of St. Mary's. J ;he members do not anticipate having 1 my banquet this year. The continued I Dness of Sister Superior is a grief to 1 she Alumnae. She always made even' I effort to make the "old girls" feel at I home when visiting their Alma Mater. !The sermon last Sunday night was i masterly effort. Rev. Father Morrissey Mor-rissey certainly considered the congre- , fation that would attend when he pre- i tared his sermon. One prominent non- I Catholic was heard to say: "Well, I that sermon was for everybody Catho- I lie or Protestant. 1 am going to- St. I Mary's often." - |
