Show CATHEDBAL NOTES. j The musical programme at St. Mary's cathedral on Sunday will be: Voluntary Holzel Jtfass in E Leonard Offertory, "Ave Maria" Turtle Mrs. Al Whiteman. t Services will be held at the Utah frtate penitentiary next Sunday. The members of the Children of Mary Sodality held their usual monthly tneeting last Sunday afternoon. Miss Clara Fafek, the lovely little soprano so-prano soloist of the Junior choir, has returned home from a prolonged stay In the country. She is much improved In health. -. ! Nellie Geary was the little soloist at St. Mary's last Sunday. Maida and Gladys Hegney were the soloists at benediction last Sunday pvening. The lovely child voices made a deep impression on the congregation. The practical" and instructive sermons preached by Key. Father Donovan at the cathedral are making a decided impression im-pression on the congregation. Miss Ethel McDonald, formerly of the !' o'clock choir, was warmly welcomed wel-comed in the choir loft last Sunday night. The music at vespers on Sunday nights Is showing marked improvement. Last Sunday night ten of the young girls of the Junior choir were present. Miss Goldthwait, who possesses an rxccllent soprano voice, sang Millard's "Ave Maria" at St. Mary's last Sunday. Sun-day. 4 The members of, the Knights of Columbus Co-lumbus held their usual bi-monthly last .Wednesday night. - Friday being the communion day for the members of the Sacred Heart Jeague, a large number attended mass and approached the sacraments. Several young ladi?s of the congregation congre-gation have recently inquired about becoming be-coming members of the Children of Mary Sodality. Aspirants should attend at-tend the monthly meeting held at St. Clary's academy on the second Sunday of the month. Rev. Father Morrlssey. of the cathedral is the spiritual director of the sodality. j The membership of the Guild of St. An.thony is daily increasing. i Copies of The Intermountaln Catho lic may be procured every Sunday at the cathedral and at all the news stands. Requiem mass was said on Friday morning for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Mary Brock, who died in Omaha lour months, ago. 4 The Catholic Knights of America held their usual monthly meeting last Monday Mon-day evening. Parents are requested to send their children to the choir rehearsals held at 3:15 on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Al Whiteman, soprano, will sing btl "Ave Maria." by Owen Turtle, at St. Mary's on Sunday. t- The first meeting of the Guild of St. Anthony was held last Sunday in the sacristy at the cathedral. Kev. Father I Curran, the spiritual director, presided, and the officers of the society were elected, the ballots resulting in Mrs. O. J. Salisbury, President; Miss O'Meara, vice president; Mrs. A. Fred Wev treasurer, and Mrs. V. J. McKenna' secretary. Rev. Father Curran and the newly-fleeted oiiicers met with Mrs. Wey at the Wilson hou-l on Friday morning to discuss practical plans for the conducting of the guild. A complete com-plete account of the meeting will be Kivrn in next week's issue of The Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Catholic. The next meeting for all the members will le held on Sunday. Nov. 22, in the sacristv at the cathedral at 3 o'clock. All members and those intending to become members are expected and requested re-quested to be present. With Rev. "That Mary Should Be Honored." formed an interesting inter-esting feature of the meeting. With Misses May Kane, Mary Mahon and Margaret MeDonough on the affirmative affirma-tive side, and Misses Alice Fisher, Alexis Hughes and Ethelle Frisbee on the negative side, the subject was warmly discussed, the former succeeding succeed-ing in establishing the Catholic doctrine of honoring our Blessed Mother. The wedding of two popular young people of the cathedral parish will occur early next week. f The elegant new music studio of All Hallows college is the finest in the city. Rev. Father Guinan. the popular president, presi-dent, has been presented with two new pianos, one being a grand and the other an upright. Professor Pedersen pronounces pro-nounces the grand piano to be a very fine instrument. The weekly morning mass, beginning with Monday, will be celebrated at S o'clock during the winter months, a change from 7:30, which obtained during dur-ing the summer. j |
