Show CATHEDRAL NOTES. Sunday school will be resumed next Sunday at 9:30. Rehearsal for the children ,of the choir will be held on Saturday afternoon after-noon at 3 o'clock. The advanced class meets at 4 o'clock and the young ladies meet Sunday morning at 9:30. The j boys will practice this week at 3 o'clock. Henry Morrison and Edward McGur-rin McGur-rin did excellent work on Christmas acting as ushers at the 11 o'clock mass. They were assistants to William O'Donnell. the highly esteemed gentleman gentle-man who kindly performs the duties of usher every Sunday. Miss Owen, the leading soprano of the cathedral choir, spent the past week at Willard visiting her parents. Rehearsals for the members of the 11 o'clock choir will be resumed on Friday. Fri-day. Jan. 9. Rev. Father Murphy of All Hallows college has returned from Butte much improved in health. Rev. Father Donahue of Eureka was In the city last week. j The members of the 11 o'clock choir were entertained last week by Rt. Rev. Bishop Scanlan. Delicious refreshments refresh-ments were served and all had an enjoyable en-joyable time. The children of the junior choir are taking great delight in contributing to the Christmas collection this year. , Roy Williams and his brother Frank were the violinists at St. Mary's this year. They did most excellent work and added very much to the effect of the choir. The promoters of the Sacred Heart league met last Sunday afternoon. . Requiem- high mass will be celebrated this morning (Saturday) at 9:30 for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Bernard Sprenger. ' Masses were celebrated at 7 and 9 o'clock on New Year's day. Rt. Rev. Bishop Scanlan delivered a short but impressive sermon to a large congregation. congre-gation. The music at the 9 o'clock mass on Christmas day was excellently rendered ren-dered by the junior choir. ' At St. Patrick's church the music was beautifully rendered by the children's chil-dren's choir. Miss Kathleen Fitzpat-rick Fitzpat-rick was the soloist, accompanied by her brother, Eiward Fitzpatrick, on the violin. |
