Show PUEBLO, COLO. The Austrian St. Joseph society, one of the most ', prosperous and ' wide awake clubs of the city. Sunday closed a two days' celebration and "dedication "dedica-tion of their new hair located on the corner of B and Rush streets. The hall was: Just completed last week at a cost of. nearly-. $17,000 and . is one of the most beautiful club houses in the west. It ranks next to. .the Mineral Palance building in size . and accommodations accom-modations for balls, dances and any sort of public meetings. Besides the main hall, which is 72 by 120 feet, there are cloak rooms, office, refreshment refresh-ment rooms and a balcony that will give, seating accommodations to 300 people. The hall is large enough to allow 400 couples dancing room and is one of the smoothest floors in the city. The St. Joseph's society is very proud of their work and the ball is a valuable addition to the development develop-ment of the grove district. The membership mem-bership of the club is now 253 and every member has a part in the construction con-struction of the new hall. Greatest enthusiasm prevailed at the ' celebration, celebra-tion, which began at S o'clock Saturday Satur-day evening. The honor of leading the first dance in the hall was sold to the highest bidder and the contest was so enthusiastic that the privilege was sold for $15. Frank Krasovich was the buyer, and. with Miss Frances Hover, led the grrand march, in which 600 couples took part. Saturday evening was devoted to dancing and at midnight mid-night an elegant lunch was. served. Sunday the crowd was equally as large and everything was done that was possible to make the guests enjoy en-joy the evening. The affair was under the management of a committee from the society and great honor is due them for the able manner in ' which the celebration was conducted. The society is under the direction of the officers recently elected. Joe Culig is the president and Andy Pajnich sec-rotary. sec-rotary. Both the president and' the secretary, . as . w ell as the committee, worked hard for-the success -of the celebration' and ' also to them are due much, of the honor for the -erection of the new hall. His return to Pueblo will depend large- i the serious sickness of his sister and ly on the physical condition and improvement im-provement of his relatives. His new-address new-address will be 640 Woodlawn avenue. Mrs. Mattie Jeane Nevoit. who died Jan. 10 at the residence of her brother and sister. Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Thomas, 1 1223 East Evans avenue, was born Dec. 27. 1S50. Mrs. Nevoit died as she had lived, true to the Catholic faith. She was one who suffered murh. but bore her trials patiently and with fortitude. The remains will be taken bae--k to her old home in Kansas City, Mo., where she will be laid to rest in Mount Elm-wood Elm-wood cemetery beside her young married mar-ried daughter, who died five years ago. Funeral services will be conducted in the chapef on Oak street. Kansas City. The body will be accompanied by Mrs. Nevoit's sister. Mrs. Selhy R. Thomas, and her son, Ernest Nevoit. |
