Show 1 , AX APOSTOLATE FOR WOMEX. The world is full of lonely and homesick hearts. One has but to observe closely Ihc people in their daily walks to find this out; and in a world, too, that is apparently teeming with happiness and prosperity. prosper-ity. Lonely hearts, aching for a kind word or a cheering glance, which those busy about their own finite cares arc too careless or too thoughtless to give. . Some one has written appreciatively about the apostolate of kindness, and its mission in the world of today. Too much cannot be said in its praise. It is an apostolate to which women should especially especial-ly devote themselves, it being their province, from time immemorial, to bind up tho wounds of the physically injured and heal the bruised and broken spirit. There is too little kindness in these busy, rushing days, perhaps, because of their very stren-uousness; stren-uousness; too little thought given to the laggard in the race, and too little attention paid to the ones who fall by the wayside. A little pause to be kind will not only help those who need it most, but vrill also strengthen the spirit for renewed effort. "Soft words breaks no bones" is an old adage that ' " . ; h '-.. could be considerably elaborated upon. Soft words are often the saving graces to a heart grown bitter under continual trials; they are the lever which lifts a load of grief from many a spirit: and. accompanied ac-companied by a kind act, have, under the grace of God, been known to save a soul. Do not be afraid to be -kind; do not be too selfish to be kind, for as we give of kindness, to others, so shall kindness be rated out to us. again. a. |
