Show PROGRAMME Of Catholic Educational Conference at St. Louis on July 12, 1-3 and 14, 1004. The arrangements for the Catholic educational conierence have been made and the programme has beeen prepared. The sessions of the confernc will be held at St. Louis on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 12, 1-3 and 14. The Jesuit Fathers have placed the halls of St. Louis university, corner of Grand avenue and Pine boulevard, at the disposal dis-posal of the conference, and the meetings will take place there. The local committee, consisting of Rev. M. S. i Brennan. chairman; Rev. Timothy Dempsey. secretary; sec-retary; Very Rev. Father Rogers,' S. J., and other prominent educators of St. LouU have made the necessary preparations for the conference, and it is expected that the meeting will be a successful on. The committee has selected the Lindcll hotel as the headquarters for the delegates. The conference will begin with" pontifical Mass, celebrated by Rt. Rev. Bishop Janssen of Belleville, Belle-ville, at 9 o'clock, in St. Francis Xaxier's church, corner of Grand avenue and Lindell boulevard.' Archbishop Glennon, who has taken a personal interest in-terest in the success of the conference, will address I the members. The conference wjll be opened by Monsignor O'Connell at 11 o'clock. In the conference the following papers will be read and discussed: "Statistics of Attendance of Catholic College Students at. Non-Catholic Colleges and Universities, Universi-ties, and the Cause Thereof," bv Charles P. Xeill Ph.D.. Catho ic universitv. "Methods of Teaching Latin in the College Old and Xew," by Rev. Charles Schrantz, S. S., St. Charles College, Ellieott City, Mo. 'The Function and Scope of Philosophv in the Catholic College Course." bv Verv Rev. M A Heihr, C.S.Sp., Pittsburg College 'of the Ho'lv Ghost, Pittsburg, Pa. "The Federation of Catholic College Alumni," by a Rev. Jesuit I'ather. St. Louis, Mo. For the sessions of the school conference, the following papers have beeen prepared: "The Teaching of Catechism and Bible History," His-tory," by Rev. Walter J. Shanley, Hartford, Conn. "The Organization of a School," bv Rev. L. W. Mulhane, Mt. Vernon, O. i "Text Books," by Rev. Thomas J. O'Brien, Brooklyn, X. Y. "Language," by Brother Anthony, St. Louis. Mo. The seminary conference will meet on Wednesday. Wed-nesday. July 13, and two papers will be offered for discussion; one on the qualifications necessary and desirable for entrance into the seminary, and the other on the teaching of Holy Scripture in the seminary. During the conference there will also be a discussion dis-cussion of the problem of a Catholic high school. |
