Show I DEFEAT roil LANDLORDISM. I Lord DeEreyne's Action Against Leaders of the United Irish League for Conspiracy Postponed. Under the direction of the landlords' organization organiza-tion in Ireland. Lord DeFreyne recently brought rwi action against Redmond. Dillon, Davitt. O'Brien and other Irish leaders and also against the Free- 1 man's Journal for alleged conspiracy to withhold I iheir rents Vith a view to compelling him to sell I his estate. The case has now disappeared from the I ' law list. It was confidently hoped this action would I , crush the United Irish League by piling up costs I and damages against it, as has been done against s English trades unions in the TafT Yale and other I oases. J It was intended to try the case before a chan- I ori'y judge without a jury, but the defendants ap- ? . pealed and got a decision that a jury should be im- I : paneled. Lord DeFreyne pressed the case and de- I : manded an immediate trial. This now turns out 1 1 to liave boon all bluff. The case has been postponed I : till October. It has been settled. The defendants' J postponement, however, amounts to the complete 1 dojrat of DeFreyne and his followers. The case nas r,'r llie landlords more than .3,000 (.$15,000) j legal expenses. S ' |
